Who created Weavesilk?
Created by Yuri Vishnevsky as an experiment in generative art, WeaveSilk allows you to weave lattices of light simply by dragging about your mouse.
What is Weavesilk?
Weavesilk, often simply known as Silk, is a website that allows users to create colorful digital images on a black background. It can be used for many purposes, such as relieving anxiety, creating profile pictures, or simply just playing around with a cool program.
What is interactive generative art?

Silk Interactive Generative Art allows users to create their own artwork by dragging the cursor (or a finger if using the app) across the screen in whatever pattern the heart desires. The pattern that appears can have a variety of effects and colors – allowing the user to “weave” their own design.
How do I change the color of my Weavesilk?

- Once you’re on the site, click “Draw something.”
- In the upper left hand corner, there is a blue dot.
- Click on that—it will show seven colors, and you can change the color you are working with by clicking on the color you want.
Is Silk a game?
Silk is a gateway game into area control and worker placement systems. Players have to move their silkworms to the optimal spaces so they can feed on the best grass available, while pushing the other players’ pieces into less desirable feeding grounds.

How does weave silk work?
Weavesilk allows you to make symmetrical art easily with only a mouse or touchpad. You can mix colors by holding onto color with your mouse and dragging it to another dot of color. You can also play with the bar labeled “rotational symmetry,” and turn the “mirror across center” and “spiral towards center” on or off.
Where do I start with generative art?

How do you blend colors in Weavesilk?

Are Silkworms killed to make silk?
How is silk made? There’s no getting around this: Silkworms die to produce silk. These processes make the cocoon easier to unwind in a single, unbroken filament that can be woven into silk thread. But when you dip the cocoon in boiling water or bake it with hot air, you’re killing the pupa inside.
